Showcasing Jenna's Choice - FareStart
Some of my favorite clients referred their good friend, Jenna, to me. She had been in Seattle for many years and was ready to buy her first home. I helped my client Jenna find a beautiful new cottage in a great area of Lake City.
When I asked her which charity she would like me to support, she chose Fare Start. Farestart was one of the first places she volunteered at after moving to Seattle 10 years ago. She loves how they aim to transform lives and nourish communities through food, life skills and job training.
FareStart has been helping people transform their lives through food for nearly 30 years. At FareStart, people overcome barriers by learning work and life skills needed to succeed in employment and in life. By investing in people, providing meals and building community, they transform homelessness, hunger and poverty into human potential. FareStart trains people to be chefs, bakers, baristas, caterers and restaurateurs. They even have their own restaurant and cafes'! In response to the pandemic starting in 2020, FareStart has provided over 4 million meals to organizations across the Seattle area that serve youth, adults and families who are low income or experiencing homelessness. Emergency meals are going to over 100 sites including Downtown Emergency Services Center, Plymouth Housing, YMCA and King County COVID-19 isolation and recovery sites.
