Showcasing Vince and Keiko's Choice - King County Coalition for Homelessness
Vince and Keiko had been looking for a new home for a few months. After losing out on several homes, they finally won a diamond-in-the-rough mid-century home in Seward Park. There were original oak hardwood floors and vintage pink bathroom tile under 40 year old carpet. After 45 minutes of pulling up carpet in the living room, Vince increased the home's value by $50,000 at least! I can't wait to see it after they pull up the rest and paint. Its a gem!
When I asked them which charity that they would like me to support, they chose King County Coalition for Homelessness. Keiko had the opportunity to work alongside them when she served on the Transportation Choices Coalition. She said, "They are a local nonprofit that advocates for policies and budgets that advances housing options, human services, and civil rights for those experiencing homelessness on the city, county, state level. They have a surprisingly small budget but have a mighty impact, and represent service providers and other housing organizations across King County." One of the great things they do is to host advocacy workshops in order to help people at all levels of experience get involved with state legislative advocacy.
