My client Libby, bought a house and sold her condo with me. It took a little time, but now she has settled into her lovely new place. When I asked her which charity she would like me to support, she chose Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center where she volunteers.
Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center, located in Redmond focuses on using Adaptive Riding and Hippotherapy - unique qualities of the horse to effect positive change in the lives of children and adults with disabilities. Adaptive Riding and Hippotherapy provide life-changing physical benefits including strengthening muscles, preventing bone weakness and joint dislocation, improving balance, and enhancing hand/eye coordination. These benefits improve a rider’s overall health, which, in turn, can increase life expectancy. Little Bit was founded in 1976 by a woman named Margaret Dunlap. Margaret had Multiple Sclerosis and found that being on the back of a horse slowed the advance of her disease. It has since grown into a 14 acre facility that serves over 375 patients.
