Showcasing Katie and Mike's Choice - NPR
Katie's mom passed away and she and Mike didn't know if they should sell their large home and move into the home they'd bought for her mother in Trilogy (a 55+ active community), or sell it. I helped them analyze the tax consequences of selling a rental property vs a personal residence with the $500K capital gain exemption. They decided to sell the home in Trilogy. They needed to get the house (decorated in true '90 style) ready to sell. Together, we came up with a plan. I let them know which projects would net them the most return and helped them get contractors for the projects that they didn't want to tackle on their own. We listed their lovely place and were under contract in just 6 short days for more than the asking price.
When I asked Mike and Katie which charity they would like me to support, they chose National Public Radio commonly known as NPR. In Mike's words, "In a world of biased and partisan news outlets they're a breath of 'Fresh Air' and 'All Things Considered', are definitely an entity that is needed to provide real journalism to people."
