Have you ever dreamed of living on a lake in wine-country? Of living on a lake where you can kayak, paddleboard or ride your bike on rail-trails? Last week, I just went up to the B.C. Okanagan (Vernon, Kelowna, Peachland) to house-sit for some friends who were travelling in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. I had the best time kayaking on Lake Kalamalka, mountain biking and swimming. It's heaven up there!
Since I'm a Realtor, I always pop into open houses when I'm on vacation. I was riding my bike on the rail-trail around several lakes (with a stop at the pub for a refreshing beer and poutine). I stopped by an open house at some new construction townhomes on the shore of Wood Lake, which is one of a half-dozen or so big lakes in the area. I couldn't believe how affordable these townhouses were, and that didn't even take the Canadian dollar into account. They start at only $525,000 CDN for a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home with a 2 car garage and rooftop deck with lake views. I loved how the floor plans at The Landing at Wood Lake were wide and spacious, not long and narrow like many townhomes. Surrounded by parks, trails and lakes, The Landing’s idyllic setting is naturally calm and serene. It’s the perfect place to relax and recharge.
Woods Lake is right in the middle of Lake Country, which has wineries all over with some delicious wines. I know, because I went wine tasting for a friend's 50th birthday while there. In the winter, there are 3 world-class ski resorts within 90 minute. Its an outdoors nirvana. If you are looking for an amazing vacation home, you should consider these.
