I helped Pat sell her home of many years so that she could move closer to family. When I asked her which charity that she would like me to support, she chose African Girls Can. She said, "I support this organization because I am a firm believer in the power of educating women around the world and I know it is well managed."
African Girls Can believes that educated girls become empowered women who can bring about positive change in their communities. This organization provides scholarships and school/dormitory supplies to girls in rural Uganda whose families cannot afford to send them to secondary school. At school, African Girls Can mentors and encourages the girls to help them gain the confidence they need to maximize their potential and become self-sufficient, independent women.
