Showcasing Jesse, Pat, & Rod's Choice - LIttle Hands Big Hearts
I've known Jesse, Pat and Rod for many years. We met over two decades ago when Jesse purchased a home I listed. He is a wonderful craftsman and renovator and brought that old home back to life. I helped him sell that home, and many others that he expertly refurbished. His parents were investors in Jesse's projects and always a part of the process. He lived and loved the home he bought in Greenlake for 15 years. When he decided to make a move to Montana, they asked me to help sell his lovely Green Lake Home.
When I asked them which charity they would like me support they chose Little Hands-Big Hearts, a non-profit Christian organization located in Portland, Oregon that supports disabled children and their families in Trujillo, Honduras. In 1996, Amber Young, a college age summer camp attendee in Trujillo, discovered an abandoned baby boy. He had been denied any help from the local hospital and orphanages because of his club foot and down syndrome conditions. Amber's parents Mark and Brenda discovered that this was common in Honduras and a seed was planted in their hearts to serve a need.
After helping several cases, Mark and Brenda moved to Trujillo and built a therapy center to be able to better care for and support the families of these children. The center encompasses a clinic to do therapy, and classes to teach nutrition and partner with the families to help the children at home. The staff also travels to many remote families. This organization fills a huge need. Without it, many families would not have any resources to help their disabled children.
